Charles Wm (“Charlie”) Conacher 1909-1968 owned land south of Steeles, west of Bayview. Charlie played hockey for twelve professional seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Detroit Red Wings and the New York Americans. He won the Stanley Cup with the Leafs in 1932. Charlie was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1961.
